ASTM A453 Grade 660 Mechanical properties describe tensile Class A, B, C & D along with Brinell hardness, Rockwell hardness, stress rupture test requirements and impact test requirements.
Impact tests shall be performed in accordance with the procedures specified in ASTM A370 or ISO 148-1 using the Charpy V-notch technique.
To qualify material for a temperature rating, impact tests shall be performed at or below the lowest temperature shown in the table for that temperature range.
Three impact specimens shall be tested to qualify a heat of material. Impact properties as determined from these tests shall satisfy the applicable requirements . In no case shall an individual impact value fall below two-thirds of that required as a minimum average. No more than one of the three test results shall be below the required minimum average.
